Beginning of blogging stage occurs when you just purchased domain name , hosting and installed blogging software. First of all chill a little bit, don’t rush things. I know your adrenalin is pumping 360 but you got to stay at 120. First of all what you want to do is think though all the steps you did and if you left something out like for example plugins are they latest version ? Is your blogging software like wordpress latest edition if not what are the changes cons or pros?

INTRODUCTION

After you got all the tools for blogging move on to blogging posts, what are you going to write about FIRST? I would start with you introduce your self who you are what is your blog about, when are you going to write post ( time ) , how many posts are you going to write etc. Introduce your first visitors to what you are about to do with your blog!. Your first visitors are the most valuable resource, they will tell you bunch of stuff like your template is nice or sucks and things like that are stuff that you want to be better at. I know for example my English is not that good but believe me I give all my powers to make my point no matter how I write.

BLOG TRAFFIC

Next, introduce your blog to others, we have many social network blogging websites on the net most popular from what I have seen is MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog then you also have something similar like Technorati . After you introduced your blog, and got some of the traffic, do you have budget to pay for some advertising? NO ? YES?

Well if you don’t there is always solution with website called stumbleupon that first day it could bring you 7.000 visitors or more depends on what your blog is about , did stumblers like it or not all that matters, thats why I said your first visitors are the evaluation for your blog.

Also one way to get traffic is post comments on other blogs that are similar to yours but again not filled with high traffic ( at first) because you will never get people that receive 10-20-30 thousands of traffic to post on your blog unless you really caught their eye. But again it is good to post comments and leave your link that will give you some page ranking.

ADVERTISING

Once you are receiving some amount of traffic on daily basis let say 100-200 visitors a day you could start with small advertising like 1 table of google adsense links and see how it goes, don’t bother your self if you don’t get not 1 click a day in first week because the following week you could get 10 clicks !!

I really saw many bloggers getting discurage by this stage because they don’t make not even $100 a month in ads, and they quit posting leave the blogging to the side.

DON’T STOP BLOGGING

Here is how I got encouraged in my first 3 months of blogging, I paid off my hosting company how about that all that money that I gave ( $78.00 ) got paid in 3 months for about 50 posts, was that hard? NO was I happy ? Yes.

After a year of blogging I bet you your traffic will increase dramatically and you will be rewarded by your visitors and the way you manage to make money with your blog. I felt reworded after my first visitors because I just thought that this blog will end up somewhere where nobody will pay attention to it.

I agree that you should not give up too early. Getting traffic and regular readers takes time.

AdSense is a great way to start making money with a BLOG, but for me I use 2 other programs that bring in much more then AdSense. But you are correct for mentioning adsense here since this is for beginners.

blogging definitely takes a lot of work and determination. Most people think that they can get into it for the long haul with the sole aim of making money in blogging. And to top that off, they want to earn the money right now. Now, some folks with very good industry contacts can start an extremely profitable blog very fast. But those are the exceptions. It takes a lot of passion around your subject area to stick it through the lean times in blogging. You just have to love what you are blogging about. Good post.

I agree with Paul, you do have to have a passion for your blogging topic. It does take persistence and a lot of work, but if you hang in there, and you’ve got something to say (especially if you’re unique ;) ), you can go a long way! :)
