This is always one of the first mistakes people do. Choosing domain name ! and then after 2nd day, they don’t like it anymore.
Most of us have those light bulbs ideas that come up for domain name while driving home, having dinner, writing another blog article etc, and then 2 minutes later you are on your pc and registering domain name.
You go to sleep and wake up with same thought “oh yeah baby ill make some good money from this domain name” and right after you figure out that.
A) You don’t have nothing to write about.
B) Don’t have any clue what you are going to write about except that one light bulb article that you had in your head the day before.
“No C” 
My self have seen and have done same thing couple of times I write this just to make you not feel stupid.
You still can produce making money off of that domain name for 1 more year. There are many services that you can lookup online, what they do is give you a html or php code that generates text and links,
Like godaddy one for example I would LOVE to have that domain name but its beeing populated with all crappy links instead of my text www.makemoneyonlineblog.com . I bet the guy/girl is getting good amount of traffic and people are clicking on those links , at least I do sometimes if I find link interesting enough.
So how to chose right domain name is your question?
Well after that light bulb moment take a deep breath, think again !
Is this domain name I really want to use for blog ?
Do I have enough resources and articles and knowledge about it?
Is that domain name funny and people will remember it or it is easy enough to remember just because I think so ?
First of all is that domain name in use? Should I buy .net anyways if .com is taken ? Why?
Main thing is by choosing domain name is to buy domain name that suits for business or personal needs that you will not regret later.
Why I chose www.BONTB.com ? To tell you honestly I did not want to have long domain name www.blogornottoblog.com so therefore I chose bontb.com and I can blog about anything and everything but I chose to write about how bloggers make money.

Well , you underlined the idea pretty well , although i have some things to add if possible .
The ‘brand’ is that name that catches your attention and it has such a nice resonance when you pronounce it that you can not forget it .
I can admit that branding is very important ( think of how would wzjz sound or how would del.icio.us sound .. the difference is very obvious ) but also is a brandable name .
