Options in Wordpress, Typepad, Blogger and other blog software, should be left alone, once you set your keywords, description and page name. You should not change it unless you think you found better way to rank up your page on search engines.

New blogs should not worry about it that much. In my opinion best thing to do is while blog is new to experiment with meta tags and see how well search engines like google, yahoo and msn are responding to keywords and content.

Google Analytics is good tool to watch what people are searching for when they find your blog, take that keyword and place it in your meta tag. Keywords do need to be blog related! Reason I am saying that is because not all keywords are suatable for your blog. Here is my example: People search for Olivia Mojica or American Next Top Model and my blog will come up , are those keywords what I write about ? No!
