Recently I was asked by friend of mine, how to begin blogging, she seems to be really interested into blogging so I told her few things about it.

I am sure there are many people out there asking same questions similar to hers, How to start blogging? What is blogging? What blog software is the best? etc…

First question you want to ask your self what is your blog going to be about. Is it going to be about the finances and money, help other bloggers, write about technology, post pictures of celebrities it doesn’t really matter. As long as you are going to write what you are familiar with, that is the key.

There are many bloggers that open blogs daily, they post one article and after that null, zero, nada because they did not know much about topic they wanted to write about.

Ask your self, are you going to blog to make money with blog or you are going to write just because you feel your thoughts should be shared with the rest of the world.

If you are going to write because you want to make money, then ask your self are posts you wrote, top niche keywords like iphone tips or myspace tricks layouts etc..

…Or is it about something that nobody even search for it. Make sure you research how many times those key words are going to be searched on search engines like google msn yahoo.

There are three sites I visit daily:

Google Keyword Suggestion Tool – This tool will help you to do a research, how popular the keyword is and how many advertisers are available out there.

Yahoo Keyword Suggestion Tool – Yahoo tool will show you statistics how many times your keyword has been searched in last 90 days it gives you other suggestions as well. Please don’t do search for questions keywords example: How to become blogger? etc. Be specific example: blogger, blog, myspace, iphone, fashion blog, celebrity and antonella barba, american idol, make money online, earn cash, advertising, dogs, cars etc…

Free Keyword Word Tracker – Similar tool as yahoo keyword suggestion, but much faster and its more likely you will not experience that site is down or this page can not be displayed.

Once you found your blog niche and researched what keywords you are going to use at least for start up, you will now have to purchase domain name with hosting. Or find blog service to create blog for free. At first try out www.wordpress.com or www.blogger.com post couple of articles see what you can do with it , invite your friends let them know you posted something and ask them for their opinion.

Then purchase domain name with hosting . Look for blog hostings that have php and mysql , also be alert about the storage.

Next is the blog software, just the other day I wrote an article about blog software it is important for you what blog software you are going to use, simple with no themes and plugins or something advanced with lots of themes and plugins like wordpress.

Now comes the part where you have to put a lot of work, chose your theme, have some freelancer create theme for you or just download and install it like many other bloggers do. Plugins are important as well, because they are part of your blog.

Don’t use to many plugins, look for plugins that you really need. At the beginning of blogging I would skip this part once you get confy with writing article posts and blog software, then move forward.

How many posts should I write a day? A week?

She ask me that too, and that is normal question for new blogger, start with once or twice a week if your time allows try once a day. Think this way, down the road are you going to be able to write once a day? Twice a week ? Let your readers know what to expect and when they are going to see new articles posted on your blog.

How soon should I put some advertising on my blog?

If you just started with blog, don’t put any, even tho you chose to blog for money. Your first visitors are your word of mouth people, don’t give them impression that you are only writing to make money from them.

What advertising companies are on internet available for bloggers?

There is many of them in fact too many, but most popular or so called “best advertising companies” are:

Text-Link-Ads – If your blog is new there is no chance you can advertise with TLA, once your blog is over 2-3 months old, have enough unique visitors per day and posts, TLA will provide you with plugin and place advertisers links that bought your blog space.

– Google Adsense is good as well for bloggers that just start, as said above make sure your keywords have lots of advertisers, that will give google adsense more options to place links and banners on your blog.

Kontera – Must love kontera they underline and link specific words in your post , text-link-ads will soon provide “inLinks ” as well.
