Page copy protected against web site content infringement by CopyscapeI have been writing for about 7 month’s now on this blog and fighting against copycats.

What Do I call CopyCat Blogger?

CopyCat blogger is person that goes from blog to blog and just copies text and pastes on it’s own.

CopyCat blogger is person that has:

A. Either no knowledge about the topic he is writing about

B. Has no sense of saying “thank you” to people that deserve

CopyCat blogger is person that does not care for duplicate content, or does not even know what that is and how harmfull that could be for both of the sites.

How To Check On Duplicate Content?

I use only one website that really gives me the most info and it’s fast too: www.copyscape.com

CopyScape checks for text that is duplicated on someone elses blog or website. This way you dont have to go through 1000’s of posts and check each of them if they ware duplicated.

Is CopyScape 100% Bullet Proof?

Yes and No can’t really say because I don’t know really how they check for duplicate content, do they scan only first page? do they scan all 900 posts? I will try to send them an email and find more about it. But so far copyscape found over 29 copycats that used word for word text from my blog. I have notified all 29 said “either you place the link to my blog, OR delete the post”

How To Protect Against Duplicate Content and CopyCats Bloggers?

1. Simply go to www.domaintools.com type in the url of copycat blog and find out who are they hosting with. Send email to abuse department, explain the situation.

2. Feedburner is sometimes guilty as well. Many bloggers have found the way to copy blogs in full text from Rss Feeds which is called aggregation or Rss Feed Aggregators (I call them Aliggregators).

  • What to do? Well some sites forced me to change my rss feeds but then I read little bit about it online, and found out that if you limit your feeds to 200-300 characters that will prevent them to copy.
  • What is it bad about? Your readers suffer because they can’t read full rss feed text.

Horaayy..there are 3 comment(s) for me so far ;)

My experience with scrappers is either they copy an excerpt of your post and link back to you, or they copy the whole thing, links and all. That’s a good way to get backlinks and expand affilaite links. If they keep your affiliate links intact, then any clicks made on their sites go to your links and bottom line :)

At Daily Blog Tips there’s a discussion about scrappers. I think it’s not fair that scrappers sites receive better Google results than original ones.
