Rss Feed Button

Rss Feeds on your blog are important part of blogging success. If you don’t have rss feeds you are loosing about 50% of returning visitor.

Optimizing your rss feeds is not that hard, you just have to go with your gut’s where is the best place to show them.

I for example have big button on top right corner I am sure it’s very visible, but then also after each post I have button to subscribe to my feeds.

Now this might not work for everybody because I have 3 column wordpress theme.

Many of popular bloggers have plugin for wordpress that adds small code to each post you create. Most likely it will say something like “If you are first time visitor and you liked this post, please subscribe to our feeds”.

To have more subscribers to your blog you have to…

…place rss feeds on top side of your blog if you don’t have it included in posts already

…choose which one you like better? Big rss button or smaller button+ text? Or Text only (Subscribe to my Rss)

…pick color of your rss button, should be orange(most popular) or color that sticks out in your theme

…get serviced your feeds at feedburner because it gives you more options

…don’t forget to submit your rss to feed directories

…write about your feeds why are they so special on your blog

…don’t place ads on your rss feeds if your blog does not have more then 10.000 feeders

These are just some common sence rss blog tips, I have learned over past 2 years dealing with feeds.

For bloggers who are just starting out one of the best pieces of advice that I have to get people to subscribe is to ask your MyBlogLog visitors to subscribe.
1. Install MyBlogLog, Bumpzee, and/or Blogcatalog.
2. When new visitors arrive from one of these communities, visit their profile page.
3. Tell them thank you for visiting and ask them to subscribe to your feed.
I think that this is a great way to get in touch with your readers.

Horaayy..there are 10 comment(s) for me so far ;)

I use rss feed widgets to add fresh content to the site. I think it helps with seo. The rss widget looks like my blog refreshes often even when I dont post.

@David: Rss feeds is internet tool that you can subscribe to via google reader, or any popular feed reader. In other words let say for example you like 10 blogs but you just don’t have time to visit them all or you like the articles but pages not because of the popups etc. Now you can subscribe to all 10 rss blog feeds and read it at one place. If you see orange button like mine on top right side that is an Icon for rss feeds or usually bloggers place a link to their feeds, my direct url is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/MakeMoneyBlogger hope this helps?

I tripled my RSS subscribers within 2 weeks by running a series of posts. As the series is still running (Blog Traffic), I hope to increase it up to 500% at its end. For me, this really works and is much fun too.
