@Carol: I could not imagine having blog or website and not having google analytics, its best tool google ever gave to webmasters. Tracks your visitors, unique visitors, keywords searched, lenght time spent on blog and a LOT more. :)

Well your ranking should not go down, because you changed the software. I always do new website and then i delete the old one.

Well you got some nice ranking there, with google analytics you could probably optimize your site even more, because you would see what people are searching for to find your blog

I come up first for "Wenatchee MLS", #2 for "Wenatchee waterfront homes", #2,3,4,5, & 7 for "Wenatchee real estate news", #6, 7, and 9 for "Wenatchee News". I'm not sure about all the others. I have not signed up for Google analytics. Never have checked that out. Any suggestions.

And, I never answered your question about WordPress. I had someone else suggest it but I've been scared to switch because I do have good rankings with my Square Space blog.

BONTB: What I mean is the search results. On Google when you type in "Wenatchee real estate" I am #2 and #10 for organic results. For "Wenatchee real estate agent" I am #1 and #2. I don't do any pay per click placement.

@Carols: When you say google ranking , what do you mean by that? You mean Page Rank? That will stay anyways. I see with Squarespace you cant really change much + they are pricey :)

Have you ever consider wordpress? Or your own hosting/domain meaning you have 250gb of space and 350gb of bandwith unlike Squarespace gives tops 2gb of space and 10gb of bandwith?
Owning your hosting/domain it cost less money its only 5-6$ a month

Let me know if you have any questions I will help you as much as my time allows.

Hi again, Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I don't really have any intention to sell, but I might someday. I work in a relatively small market area, so I'm not sure if 2,000 visitors a month is so bad. I'm not just looking for traffic, but quality traffic. My Google rankings are good but not so good on Yahoo and MSN. I am using Squarespace and have been afraid to switch because I do have such good Google rankings. I also own TopPropertiesWenatchee.com which is my primary real estate website (not a blog).

@Carol: I was looking your blog and there is some good content but when it comes to like what people are looking for you will have to do a lot of changes.

For example
type on google site:CarolsWenatchee.com you will see your pages are ALL same your SEO is bad because it's repeating for every page but your pages should have different title names.
Also when I look at your traffic you get about 2.000 visitors per month and people are not happy with those results.

Go to problogger:
http://www.problogger.net/archives/2007/11/05/selling-blogs-factors-of-valuation/

My suggestion is do not sell that blog yet. I can help you get about 400% of visitors what you have right now just with the single wordpress plugin.
What it will do it will change all your titles all your title descriptions and that is where you are going to get your visitors from. I like the fact that your blog has some age over 1 year!! So for now i would just leave that blog as it is. Are you using wordpress?

What would I sell my blog for? I've wondered about that myself. I can't even think of a number. It's directly tied to so much of my business that it's value is incalculable to me at this time. If I was ready to quit working it would be an easier question. At this time, I'd say if someone offered me $50,000 cash I'd think about it... emphasis on the "think".

As for the domain name issue, I was thinking about the search engine results coming up CarolsWenatchee. When the consumer goes to the site and sees someone named Sally or Joe Blow has taken it over, does that affect their credibility has the owner of the content?

@Carol: Well people can still buy domain name like johndoe.com and redirect it to your blog. So after a while they would tell visitors to visit their real name.

Also value of your blog is something you have to figure, this all depends on blog traffic, blog income.

What would you sell your blog for?

I've recently been thinking about the blog sale idea. How does one determine the value of a blog? I get a lot of bsiness from my blog and it could be worth quite a bit of money. Biggest mistake I made was putting MY name in the domain name. Now who wants CarolsWenatchee when their name might be Sally or Joe? Any suggestions?
