I use to go around the blogs and instead of using my real name i used my domain name ( Ok I still do sometimes). But then few days ago friend of mine was telling me how his blog got ripped off by his own mistake on google, because he used his domain name.
Now Read!
Fist of all, this can’t happen to anyone but still be careful.
Let say your blog name domain name is: blogwebmaster.com (which should be in deleted status as of today).
Now you go to big dogs bloggers with PR5-9 and start comment like
Name:Blog Webmaster or BlogWebmaster
Few days later you check google for keyword “blog webmaster” you think your blog will be still no.1 in google ?
Yes comments are also part of the google search engine
In this post I just want to let you know that bloggers should be careful when posting comments on other blogs.
Sometimes it is not smart to use your wanted keyword or blog name because by that you are creating your self competition.

Horaayy..there are 9 comment(s) for me so far ;)
I’m sceptical over this, I think it all depends on more factors. Every link you post on their site will give you a back link with certain key words too.
Oh, me too
Should i change my name here :p
I don’t understand. Do you mean that your blog comment could actually outrank your own blog?
That seams difficult to imagine but even so, it would mean the link to your blog is only that much more valuable. So in the end it would be a benefit.
@ESCA: Some bloggers have comments displayed on google search(I don’t).
Now you still get that backlink if they have “index follow” on comments.
But the problem is that:
When you place Name:ESCAMakeup and your website is also ESCAMakeup.com this could show on google search if somebody searched for keyword: ESCAMakeup or ESCA Makeup. So they first would click on that blog in case your blog is not no.1 …
Does that answer your question ?
@Quit Smoking: Ok here is the little demonstration ok?
Look at
http://www.google.com/search?q=ipodtouchtricks&hl=en&start=10&sa=N
Look for link to techcrunch.com , notice comment (IpodTouchTricks)? That comment was made by me.
TechCrunch use to be 2nd in google if you typed ipodtouchtricks and my blog was no.1
…ok today that changed I am no.2 and techcrunch 12 in google rank.
Point taken. I guess it all depends on the relevance of the link and also the experience of the user trying to find the correct page.
Hi there, … a bit of a different comment than the ones above.
I find it totally annoying to have people sign with keywords or the name of their blog and if they do on my blog I have to think real hard about whether to leave it on or consider it spam.
Commenting should be done in first place to add something to the blog and start a communication with it´s writer… Atleast that is how I feel about it
Hi BONTB, at first I had absolutely no clue what you mean. Until just now when I decided to ask you about that.
Now, I understand what do you mean. It’s about nofollow links from the blogs you leave comment on. If you leave your keyword name on that comment then basically the keyword remain on that blog and Google won’t know that it actually point to yours.
Solution is to only use keyword name on blogs that have the nofollow attribute removed. Anyway, if you comment on another blog it’s expected you use your real name and a personal blog, not your business website.

Binh Nguyen
wow, I would never have thought about this from the angle that you presented here. I will be careful from now on. Thanks!
