Podcasting is increasing with popularity and the impact on blogging will be tremendous. Almost everyone in the world knows what a blog is and podcasting is quickly approaching that level. Podcasting has many advantages over blogging and is already one of the best compliments to blogs.
The Impact Blogging has on Marketing
Blogging is a way for everyone to have his or her own website on the internet. If you have a company website, in which customers can purchase your products online, blogging is an easy way to market your products to a larger audience. Millions of people read blogs everyday and many are searching for products they need on the internet.
Using Podcasting for Marketing
Podcasting is a way to give your website a personal touch and extend the capabilities of your blog in marketing your business. Through audio content, people everywhere can listen to your podcast anytime and anywhere. Consumer and business owners are preferring podcasts over blogging for a number of reasons.
Convenience
Podcasts are audio files that can either be listened to online, downloaded to your computer or MP3 player for later use. People are busy and they often do not have the time to read websites and blogs for information. Your podcast can be heard in the car, while exercising, doing household chores, or other tasks. Using a podcast increases your exposure by tailoring to the lives of your consumers.
- Ease of Use
Individuals who listen to podcasts can easily download the audio files. Audio files are generally not very large and internet speeds are high so downloading takes no time. Downloading and listening to a podcast takes much less time than reading a blog.
- Automatic Updates
Just like blogs, podcasts will automatically inform you when a new one is available through syndication feeds. This is a great feature for letting consumers know of new products or updated information about your business. These updates are also great tools to remind consumers about what you have to offer.
- Lead Generation
If the consumers like what they hear, they will follow up with your company. If they think that one of their friends or family members would benefit from your service or product they can either send the file through e-mail or let them hear it through their media player. This increases your exposure by reaching consumers outside of the internet.
- Personal Touch
Listening to someone’s voice gives a business a personal touch better than a blog. Delivering a friendly informational message about your company will be more effective at getting consumers to learn more about what you have to offer.
- Impact of Podcasting on Blogging
Podcasting will have a great impact on blogging in the next couple of years. There are many reasons why business owners would choose this form of marketing over blogging. It can increase your company’s exposure and podcasts are easy to create. Podcasts appeal to consumers who would rather listen to something than read and is much more convenient.

Horaayy..there are 3 comment(s) for me so far ;)
The one thing about podcasts I dont like is that can listen to them on public computers without irritating other people.
I think podcasting is dying off a little at the moment, as camtasia video-bloggin has become very popular amongst bloggers. However, I am just about to post up a podcast to my blog in the next few days, as well as complete a few videos.
I personally find that using videos is better if you’re talking about a certain tool, so you actually show readers what you mean. Whereas podcasting should be used on a more personal/recap post.
Overall, I think if a blogger is using either podcasting or video on their blog, then they’re above those that don’t.
