Don’t ever feel stupid when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. If you know what SEO means, that makes you now days an expert. So here are few things I would like to write today, what to do and what not to do when it comes to SEO.
Some so called experts will tell you don’t use keywords, well I say the hell with such experts! Keywords are very important for many things, not only helps search engines (plural!) categorize your blog in their algorithms , but helps ads networks categorize your advertising niche like Adsense, Adbrite etc.
Title Tag should be H1 header if its not, change it. H1 Header points out to search engines that the topic is important more then description.
Description should always be your primary focus, first 160 characters are very important, so make sure when you write post, the first 160 characters is the main thing.
Use plugins like All in One Pack SEO for Wordpress, or if you are using some other blogging platform, research if there is such plugin.
The less plugins you use the better that is, imagine having 40 plugins that have something to do with home page, do you really thing google or other search engines have time to go through and scan whats important whats not? So make sure not to use plugins that aren’t that much of importance.
Make your url pretty, I hate seing urls like whatever.com/p?=21014 , make sure its something like whatever.com/yep-this-is-good or whatever.com/do_you_like_me , you can customise that under Settings in your wordpress
There is bunch of seo tips and tricks I could tell you about, but I am saving that for my video sessions which are going to be free, unlike others they charge $500 for giving you same information that I just wrote above. Don’t get scammed by such people, instead of waisting $500 on such nonsense presentation you could pay for some advertising.

Horaayy..there are 16 comment(s) for me so far ;)
great tips, thanks, cause thats where I am right now, trying to figure this SEO thing out.

I agree. Keywords / H1’s / Url’s. I actually just did a quick post the other day. So many people want to learn SEO but don’t realize if they are using the likes of WP they are half way there.
Great beginning article, waiting meantime for video. You have right about scammers, everyday are lot more, maybe this action of you, will improve SEO tutorials…
Yeahh nice but your PR still 0 dude.
Keep in touch, THanks
@Adee: I don’t know where you are checking PR’s but I have PR3-4 and never 0 .
im very glad to read a site like this…
That headline of yours really caught my eye! I know what you mean, just knowing what SEO stands for makes some people believe that they are experts.
I’ve never heard anyone say that keywords aren’t important when it comes to SEO. In fact if I heard/read that I would leave straight away.
Is the all in one SEO things still available, I heard that it had been taken other by something else.
@Phil Benwell: Yes it’s still available
Good post, although I have to admit, maybe it’s just me but twitter escapes me – it really does. Maybe I need to use it more to see the lure.
Thanks for sharing some helpful tips for free! I agree with you on having clean URLs. I hate when they are just a long string of junk!
The All in One plugin, what all does it do? And how does one put it in?
As you can probably make out, I’m only a writer, and i leave the technical part to a professional. I like to check out stuff in advance so that I don’t appear too lost!
Good tips, though the stuff you have pointed out is stuff that is pretty basic and people should do it out of habit.
Just shows that parts of SEO are very easy indeed.
John
nice post
Thanks for the short, sweet but useful article.
