You should not feel bad about receiving traffic from other popular websites. I did not say that I DO that all the time, but if I find my topic related to the topic of popular website, then I always leave link in the way that it does not look like spam.
Those same popular websites / blogs did the same thing, maybe a bit different, by sending email to authors and asking for opinion or if they could include backlink to their next post.
I noticed that by leaving links in comments or forums
A. increased my traffic
B. get more Rss Feed Subscribers
C. Visitors come back out of interest what you are going to post next.
How about leaving link to your blog on other blogs and websites as third person, have you thought of that?
Example:
Website: Engadget.com
Post Topic:AT&T’s free iPhone WiFi is live at last
Your Comment: “I found this awesome link “Your Post url” which has some additional informations on where to get free WiFi. WiFi should be free for everybody not just iPhone users”
If you check your blog stat’s tomorrow I can tell you one thing, it’s going to get you at least 20 visitors if not even in some cases 5000 visitors! (Belive me it can be true!)
How To find Popular Posts?
Google it!, look for keywords that your post is about which you want to promote or thing is good. For example if your post is about Make Money Online, type that in Google see what blogs you are going to stumble upon, and leave some comments.

Leaving good, relevant comments is a great way to leave an appropriate link and get some extra traffic. Commenting can be time consuming, but it can pay off and the process can actually be really fun and expose you to a lot of new sites and articles!
This “living in fear” shit is getting old.
Why it is important to leave a comment?
- You already read the article spending 10 minutes. So writing 2 line will hardly take 2 minutes.
- You will always have something to share after reading the article because you will only read an article which interests you.
- People will read your comment as we all know comments are the most valuable content and they will visit your site, you got traffic now and helped in branding as well.

Leaving comments to a post can increase traffic in the long run. It’s easy, simple and painless. Sharing topic specific information while pushing traffic to your site. Is a no brainer!!
