Building in Belo Horizonte - Brazil.Image via Wikipedia

Today I will give you some of my expertiese on why I think every company should have blog instead website or website with blog.

Long time ago back in 2001 I started building websites on my own primarily I used html,  I build sites in the way blogs work now. I would have one page full of my notes which you had to scroll down for at least 1 minute and then at the top and at the bottom I had links [Page 1| Page 2 | Page 3]. So I could say that I started blogging in 2001 but I do not, because those text’s are just my 21y old notes on how to hack pc’s and I feel bad now when I think about it lol.

So let say you are about to open your very first company and thinking of building website. Now what are you going to do? Post some pictures slap About Company page and thats it? You think people will come and see that website all the time?  NO they will NOT unless your company get’s popular locally and people anyways will tell you to update your site with some press releases because in todays business world people want easy and quick access to your information.

What you want to do is open website with blog inside, and everytime you have special “press” releases or something special to say about company you write it.

Now on the other hand if you open blog only it might be borring to see blog post that is 1-2years old

So chose wisely, is your blog/website going to be updated regularly or not ? If Not you might want to build Website with About Company Page but then also link to your blog called Press Releases, or Company Updates if you know what I mean?

I agree, people still think that just because you have a website with a few details about yourself or your business, that this will be enough.

Little do they know of all the work that goes into making a website or blog a success.

I feel that a website for the company should be so good that you should be able to get all the information that you would get if you visited the company office. A blog for the company on the other hand is personalising the offers of the company. It is also going to need constant updating and interesting content. Not too many companies can spare the time for that unless they outsource.

It is nice to see a company with a blog. It shows they make updates and have new stuff going on. And it can also show some personality and a more human side of the company. I agree with you, if you aren’t going to add anything new for a long time, then don’t do it. You’ll look outdated.

I think a blog is a great value addition to a static site, it can be something that will keep people coming back to the site.

A blog is also something that you can use to interact and engage with your visitors, creating a rapport with your customers is always a great way to increase the goodwill of your business.

Definitely a blog today is almost required. Just for the easy quick posting you can do as well as SE benefits.

But I think the front page should still be a website with standard pages of information. With a nice link to your blog and recent posts for visitors and the search engines.

Blogs are good for SEO. Their link structure is very organised and that’s what Google likes. Sure there are some problems such as duplicate content but it’s easily fixed with a robots.txt edit.

You make some good points. Other advantages to blogs is google seems to like them better and its easier to manage link exchanges and comments help facilitate discussion. The biggest advantage is most blogs have premade templates so you don’t need to design your own.

This is so true. Also, blogs get indexed faster than traditional sites.
